There is even a sense of reason. She did not die in vain if our story impacts just one person.
What started out as a blog to keep family and friends updated on our first child's NICU roller coaster ride, over time became an instrumental tool in my healing since our daughter's death. Since our daughter's passing in May of 2009, I found great healing in writing on my blog, Small Bird Studios, and through it, connecting with other loss mothers from around the world.
When I fell pregnant again, only a few months after saying goodbye to our firstborn child, I soon realized how much I had taken for granted in my first pregnancy - the bliss, the innocence and the unknown. After losing our daughter, I became dangerously aware of how many things could go wrong in pregnancy. Sadly, to this day, there is little I can remember of my pregnancy with my son. This book is inspired by the determination to take back what we as mothers - bereaved and expecting mothers - deserve to enjoy.
On a personal level, I have a BA in Studio Art, with a double minor in Spanish and Education. I am a certified teacher, but am beyond grateful to be able to work from home as a designer and artist, and raise these beautiful babies God has given me.
